Charisse M. Harris (she/her) is a mixed-media artist & art instructor from Akron, OH. She received her MFA from Kent State University, and her BA in Studio Art from Baldwin-Wallace University. Charisse has taught a variety of studio art courses as a part-time professor at Kent State University, Columbus State & Capital University in Columbus, OH. She is currently the Visiting Assistant Professor of Drawing at Oberlin College where she teaches figure drawing & painting.

As a Miller South alum and Magnet Arts graduate from Firestone High School Charisse has deep connections to her hometown and enduring respect for art education. In 2021 she helped co-found East Avenue Gallery in Kenmore, OH with her family. East Avenue Gallery & market is a community space geared at supporting up-and-coming local artists. The gallery is housed in her family business that is proudly the only all female, third generation black-owned and operated auto businesses in the area. She enjoys teaching art workshops and providing engaging programming for the greater community there.

The range of issues she explores in her art – intersectionality, black culture, faith, food and female representation are as broad as the media she employs. Her work is multifaceted and complex in its analysis of the individual's relationship to one's external environment.
