She was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Drawing at Oberlin College until 2023 and is currently a lecturer at Baldwin-Wallace University.
As a Miller South alum and Magnet Arts graduate from Firestone High School, Charisse has deep connections to her hometown and enduring respect for art education. One of her strongest beliefs is that anyone can learn and that art is truly for everyone. Her community teaching is open to all ages, backgrounds, ability and skill levels.
The range of issues she explores in her art – intersectionality, black culture, figuration, queerness, faith and food histories are as broad as the media she employs. Her work is multifaceted in its analysis of the individual's relationship to their ever-changing external environments.
